What is mentorship? What is the role of the mentor? I am being asked to mentor these two artists whom I’ve never met. How to begin, and where to go from there? What is the destination/goal/end? What do I have to offer them in the way of assistance and advice? Are they as unsure about this whole journey as I am?

These are all thoughts that flew through my mind at the beginning of this program. I became supporter, cheerleader and sounding board along the way. Each artist already had ways of working with which they were comfortable. The challenge of taking on a new arena – book arts – while daunting at first, proved to be a smooth transition.
