By Design provides teen artists and writers with a 10-week introductory book arts course that meets Tuesdays 4 to 6 pm and Saturdays 1 to 4 pm. Open studios on Thursdays 4 to 6 pm provide additional learning opportunities.

Graduates of this course can then apply for renewable contracts to develop artwork independently with adult artist mentors. These advanced teen artists receive a monthly stipend for supplies, critique sessions, exhibition opportunities and more!

ATTENTION ARTISTS: Become a MENTOR for an emerging TEEN BOOK ARTIST!

Three times a year, MCBA selects 8 active artists to mentor 8 emerging teen book artists in By Design, MCBA's Teen Artist Development and Mentoring Program. Mentors work with students one-on-one for three months, guiding them through independent projects, talking about and critiquing art, and participating in the larger By Design Artist Community. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity please contact the Teen Programs Coordinator at 612.215.2532.

For more information or an application form, contact Teen Programs Coordinator Anna Tsantir at 612.215.2532.

All of the artwork on this web page was created by actual teen artists.
