CALL FOR ENTRIES

All work submitted, for any show, needs to be identified with artist’s name, address and phone number on the back or some portion of the work. Only originals will be considered for exhibition; no jurying will be done from slides. A SASE must be included if you want your work returned.

As part of Spot On, MCBA will be hosting a Zine and Graphic Novel Trade Fair Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, 2005. If you are interested in renting space to sell associated wares, call Jeff Rathermel at (612) 215-2526 to reserve a space. Table rental pricing starts at $25.

Spot On:  The Art of Zines and Graphic Novels

Are you a zine or graphic novel artist? MCBA is looking for artwork to include in its Spot On show. Whether it’s text, layout, imagery, pages, cover art, or posters, we’re interested in featuring your work. Send submissions, with a SASE for their return, to MCBA, attn: Spot On. Work will be reviewed and a selection of works showing the diversity of this creative art form will be included in the show. Entries must be received by March 19, 2005.

Bookish: An Open Call Exhibition Showcasing the Work of MCBA’s Artist Community

As part of MCBA’s 20th Anniversary celebration, an open-call show will be presented in the summer. Anything book-related can be submitted: handmade paper, bindings, prints, calligraphy, etc. Everything entered will be shown—the only stipulation is that it must measure no greater than 12” x 12” x 12”. Work must be received by June 11 to be included in the show. Work without a SASE will not be returned. Work must be available for the entire run of the show—until September 17.

To Have and To Hold:
Art You Can Touch

We are looking for artists’ books that people visiting our gallery can touch—no gloves required. If you are interested in having your work included in this show, please submit it to MCBA, attn: To Have and To Hold by September 10, 2005. Include a SASE for its return. Work will be on view until Nov 26. Works will be selected by MCBA for inclusion in this show, which will have a “reading room” format.  Although great care will be taken with all books, due to the “hands on” nature of this show, possible damage may occur from multiple visitors.

Annual By Design Exhibition

A juried show for all artists who have ever participated in MCBA’s teen artist development and mentoring program will be on exhibit from August 20 – September 19. Submit one or more pieces of new, book arts related work (produced within the past year, preferably outside of By Design classes). All work should be brought to MCBA (with proper labeling and an artist’s statement) by 12 pm on August 11, 2005. Contact Tiffany Kramer, Teen Programs Coordinator, with questions at (612) 215-2532 or tkramer@mnbookarts.org.
