Richard Minsky, founder of the Center for Book Arts in New York, will host a gallery talk, lecture, and teacher workshop on Saturday, April 5, 2003. Minskys visit coincides with the opening of his exhibit at MCBA entitled The Bill of Rights.
The exhibit features a series of 10 provocative book works that exemplify the fist ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution as art. For each amendment, Minsky has selected a test that conveys the concept of the right that illustrates what may happen if the right is violated, or that stimulates thinking about the right in a new way.
Richard Minsky founded the Center for Book Arts in 1974 and has long promoted the book as a means of art. His works have been exhibited and are held by major American museums and book arts collections, including the Getty Center, the Yale University Arts of the Book Collection, the National Gallery, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
