The New/Old Multiplicity:
Introducing the S. Helmes and W. Gaglione Rubber Stamp Archive
April 15, 2016 – June 12, 2016

Opening reception: April 15; 6-8pm; remarks at 7pm

Minnesota Center for Book Arts is proud to announce a world-wide first: the establishment of a working rubber stamp archive. Uniting the extensive and comprehensive collections of Scott Helmes and William ‘Picasso’ Gaglione, MCBA’s H/G Archive will preserve the largest assembling of rare, historic and unique rubber stamps, and serve as an incubator for creative practice, with stamps accessible to both professional and emerging artists. Opening early 2017.

The New/Old Multiplicity exhibition offers a sneak peek of the archive’s holdings as well as examples of contemporary rubber stamp art work ranging from concrete poetry rooted in Dada traditions to Fluxus-inspired mail art and Asemic compositions.
