There are many ways to register for a workshop at MCBA:

Register by phone!
Call us at 612-215-2520. Please have your workshop title(s), fees, dates, and credit card information ready when you call.

Register online!
Online registration is a snap! Add your desired workshops to your "shopping cart", making sure to select the appropriate fees:

  • MCBA members get a 10% tuition discount!
  • Certificate enrollees who are also MCBA members qualify for an additional "early-bird" discount if registering a month or more in advance!

When you are finished, simply check out through PayPal. You DO NOT need to create a PayPal account; you may pay by credit card without registering for a PayPal account.

PayPal will require you to include your email address when registering. Also include your phone number, so we can reach you quickly in case of cancellations or other important details.

Register in person!
Stop by The Shop at MCBA, and a Visitor Services Associate will be happy to help you with workshop registration, Open Studios or studio rentals.

Registration Details

Registration is not complete until full payment of both tuition and supply fees. MCBA does not mail confirmations; you may call The Shop at MCBA (612-215-2520) to confirm your registration.

Please make every effort to register AT LEAST one to two weeks in advance of any workshop. We encourage two weeks notice to give instructors adequate time to prepare workshop materials. If you wish to register for a workshop less than one week in advance, please call 612-215-2520 to confirm if the workshop is running or cancelled. MCBA reserves the right to cancel a workshop one week prior to its start date if enrollment has not reached the required minimum. Registrants will be notified if a workshop is cancelled. Registrations made less than a week in advance after a workshop has already been cancelled due to low enrollment may not be honored.

Refund Policy
Cancellations eight or more days before the beginning of a workshop will receive a full refund minus a $15 processing charge.

Cancellations or transfers three to seven days prior to the workshop will receive a 50% refund minus a $15 processing charge.

No refunds or transfers are possible for cancellations two days or less in advance of the start of class, or for no-shows.

In the event that MCBA cancels a workshop, students will receive a full refund. Refunds are issued in the same form as was received as payment. Please allow up to one week for refunds to be processed (2-3 weeks if paid by check).

Membership Discount
MCBA members receive a 10% tuition discount. Supply fees must be paid in full.

As a nonprofit organization, we depend on the financial support of our members to bring you the kind of quality workshops, exhibitions and programming you've come to expect from MCBA. As a member of MCBA, you'll receive a 10% discount on workshop tuition, a 10% discount on most purchases at The Shop, invitations to exhibition openings and special events, and many other benefits. Support MCBA: become a member today!

The membership discount is also extended to members of AIGA Minnesota.

Type Deposits
Students using type: please include a separate $100 deposit (in the form of a check) to be refunded after type has been redistributed. Workshops requiring type deposits are noted under fee amounts.

Accessibility / Special Needs
If you have special needs that may impact your participation, please use the bottom of the registration form to describe your needs. Staff will contact you prior to the workshop to discuss accommodations. We may not be able to ensure appropriate accommodations without prior notification. Access services are available for MCBA programs. To make arrangements, please call 612 215 2520 or e-mail us.

Lunch Breaks
Most workshops scheduled over lunch allow for a one hour break. MCBA has a small refrigerator for storage of a bag lunch; alternatives include Coffee Gallery, a cafe located on the ground floor of Open Book, or numerous restaurants within walking distance.

Hotel Accommodations
An Open Book patron rate has been negotiated with Aloft (by W Hotels), located just a block from Open Book. Use corporate code 377963 when booking online or over the phone. Rates will vary.
