STEM: A Portfolio of Pop-ups Pop-up books are as fun to make, as they are to read. Learn a variety of basic pop-up techniques using file folders to create sample pop-ups for easy future reference. Emphasis will be on developing an understanding of the engineering concepts behind the pop-up constructions and making classroom samples. Integration of text with imagery will be discussed; samples will be on hand to inspire classroom connections. $50 ($45 members) + $10 supply fee
STEM: Thematic Pop-Out Books One of our most popular book structures for students, single sheet pop-out books is great for students as young as 1st grade and all through high school. Participants will learn how to adapt this structure for subject matter and student ability. Participants will explore paper engineering using pop-out books with an array of papers, looking at symmetry, creating layers of pop-outs, making templates and more. Such a simple, versatile, inexpensive book, this is a great structure to teach students how to design their own unique pop-out book. Samples will be on hand to inspire classroom connections. $50 ($45 members) + $5 supply fee
STEM: Meander Books Another great single–sheet book with endless possibilities. Learn how students can change this single sheet of paper with a little folding and cutting into a 3 dimensional creature. With different folding and cutting it becomes a tiny book with seemingly endless meandering pages. A great book for students to examine the correlation between the number of folds, and where you cut determines the number and size of the page to the book. This is a fun engaging book that supports narratives, poems, illustrations, and information. Also great to integrate with watercolors and printing projects. Come explore the possibilities. $50 ($45 members) + $5 supply fee

All different, all compelling, all surprisingly easy. $50 ($45 members) + $10 supply fee
Exploring Japanese Book Arts Explore a different cultural perspective through the uniquely eastern traditions in book arts. Japan has a long history in paper, printing and bookbinding. In this workshop you will experience the Japanese traditions of sumi-nagashi (Japanese paper marbling), create an individual "chop" (signature stamp), fold an origami folder, and bind two distinct Japanese books. Handouts and discussion will emphasize classroom connections. $50 ($45 members) + $15 supply fee
Collage: Beyond Cut and Paste Take your students beyond cut & paste. Learn to maximize collage as an instructional tool to teach students how to express an idea visually stressing art elements and principles of design. Utilizing a structured process that stresses artful learning and fine motor skills, participants will create a sample collage that demonstrates a clear visual message. Sample collages will be sealed for long-term use in the classroom. Additional samples will be available to demonstrate connections to curricular subjects. $50 ($45 members) + $5 supply fee
Gelatin Printing in the Classroom No printing press? No problem! Gelatin printing is perfect for the classroom. Learn how to create gelatin printing plates. Experiment with monoprinting by painting right on the plate, printing with found objects, creating with ghost images, and more. There will be plenty of time and materials to explore and create samples for the classroom. Gelatin printing is versatile, easy, fun and safe for all ages. $50 ($45 members) + $15 supply fee
