An introduction to artists’ books, this workshop will focus on the juxtaposition of text and image, page layout, and pacing to create a narrative artist’s book.
Learn six book structures and several methods of image making: hand printing linoleum blocks, gelatin printing, pochoir, trace monotypes, and paper cutting. Quick exercises at the beginning of each meeting will free-up the hands and mind before moving onto more complex structures and concepts. Each participant will produce a book which they may choose to edition and exchange with other participants by mail.

Participants are responsible for sourcing their own supplies from the materials list. Teaching artists will answer questions about materials in advance of the workshop start date.
