Get acquainted (or reacquainted!) with MCBA’s mechanical cutting equipment. Learn how to safely use MCBA’s guillotines and board shears to gain skills needed to prepare materials for printing and binding projects at MCBA. Techniques for how to cut both paper and book board will be covered.
This in-person workshop is designed for those who have binding experience and would like to rent MCBA’s cutting equipment to work independently and prepare materials for personal projects. This workshop is also ideal for participants of the virtual Hardcover Book workshop who would like to learn how to prepare their own paper and board at MCBA.
Certificate: 2 hours, Category B
$45/participant (10% discount for MCBA members) + $5 materials fee
$25 for BIPOC participants (10% discount for MCBA members) + $5 materials fee
We are offering a reduced rate to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) participants to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom this does not apply, register at the rate listed first and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make reduced rates available.
All in-person program participants are required to be vaccinated and to wear a mask while in MCBA’s studios and the Open Book building. By registering for an in-person program, you agree to these terms. See our COVID protocols for more information.
Please note: Registration closes 11/4 at midnight (CT).
