Description of binding

The binding is in full leather with edge to edge doublure in grained black calfskin. The flyleaves are in pig suede the color of anthracite. The design is a geometric abstraction composed of mosaic with a hard edge made of the same leather as the cover. These shapes are inspired by paintings by Sonia Delaunay. The title is tooled in palladium by Geneviève Quarré de Boiry.

Artist bio

Jonathan Tremblay was born in Canada. He was trained as an engineer, and then chose to dedicate his whole time to bookbinding. Self-taught, he studied first at the Tranchefile in Montreal. Afterwards, he perfected himself through many courses taught by European master bookbinders. In 1996, he founded the Atelier la Parure in Quebec City. Jonathan Tremblay works for collectors, libraries and large institutions. He participates in international exhibitions, conferences and gives demonstrations. An internationally renowned binder, he is the recipient of several distinctions.
