Over-marbling is the process of marbling a sheet of paper that has already been marbled once. Marblers often learn to over-marble as a way of improving previously marbled paper that did not turn out as well as they had hoped. However, when done intentionally, over-marbling can create beautiful effects! This in-person workshop will cover some of the most popular over-marbling approaches including more complex and unique patterns. Participants will have the opportunity to build their over-marbling skills in terms of both pattern and color combinations with the guidance of the teaching artist.
This workshop is also an excellent way to hone fundamental marbling skills including aluming, dropping paint, using combs, and laying paper down on the vat. Prior participation in Introduction to Marbling or similar marbling experience is required. Experience making patterns is helpful, but not necessary.
