This in-person workshop focuses on honing skills needed to marble stone and moire patterns. First, refine the stone pattern technique using a combination of plastic whisks and eye droppers. Then, explore how to make specialty stone patterns using non-contaminating tank solvents. Instruction will also cover techniques to hone your skills making beautiful moire patterns. Come away with several timeless papers for bookbinding, collage, box making, letterpress, or other projects.
This workshop is part of a series of in-depth explorations in marbling techniques. The series aims to provide novice and seasoned marblers an opportunity to isolate and refine specific techniques, further adding to the marbler’s toolbox.
To enroll participants need to have taken Introduction to Marbling at MCBA or an equivalent workshop elsewhere.

MCBA offers two scholarship types for workshops—Financial Hardship Scholarships and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Scholarships—to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom these scholarships do not apply, register at the Adult rate and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make scholarships available.
