Welcome back to our print studios! Experience the hands-on satisfaction of printing your unique message through the tangible process of letterpress printing. Check out a selection of posters and broadsides featuring political messages and poetry, then learn beginning typesetting using wood type. Design and print your own small edition of posters on a Vandercook press.
Instruction will include technical demonstrations on press operation, hand inking with brayers, and various simple image-printing processes. Participants will gain experience setting type by hand and operating a Vandercook press with support from the teaching artist. This in-studio workshop introduces participants to the technical skills required for letterpress printing, but more training is needed in order for participants to rent equipment for independent use.
All skill levels welcome
