Simulate Printmaking with Digital Tools

with Camilo Aguirre
Saturdays: October 1, 8, 15, 22; 1–2:30pm CT

Learn how to make digital illustrations that imitate the appearance of printmaking techniques such as relief printing and screen printing. Prepare your files for platemaking or other printing methods (like risograph), or simply to have fun playing with raster illustration software. Participants must have a computer and a drawing tablet or iPad. Experience with printmaking is helpful, but not required.

$130/participant (10% discount for MCBA members)
$65 for BIPOC participants (10% discount for MCBA members)
We are offering a reduced rate to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) participants to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom this does not apply, register at the rate listed first and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make reduced rates available.

What you’ll need to participate

Tech requirements: Participants must have a computer and a drawing tablet or iPad. Participants must have access to Adobe Photoshop, Krita, or both throughout the workshop. Procreate is another optional software to consider.

As this is a participatory virtual workshop, we recommend joining on a laptop or desktop computer with a camera and microphone, if possible. You will receive step-by-step instructions for downloading Zoom (it’s free!) and accessing the workshop online approximately 2 days before the workshop’s start date.

Please note: Registration closes 9/26 at midnight (CT).
