Whisper – Jiyoung Chung’s Joomchi

Whisper – Jiyoung Chung’s Joomchi
May 6 – June 24, 2011
MCBA Star Tribune Foundation Gallery

The ancient meets the contemporary in “Whisper: Jiyoung Chung’s Joomchi”. Using the traditional Korean technique of joomchi, a papermaking and felting process, artist Jiyoung Chung crafts delicate, simply composed canvases that demonstrate extraordinary depth and skill. In this exhibition of medium- and large-scale work from her Whisper-Romance series, Chung explores the relationship between humans and the divine.

“Whisper” is co-sponsored by the Surface Design Association (SDA) in conjunction with Confluence, the 2011 International Surface Design Conference, presented by the SDA and Textile Center.
