Krystal Ramirez: Reception & Artist Talk

MCBA Studios / Outlook Gallery
Friday, February 14, 2020; 6–8pm

Free and open to the public

Join us for an artist talk and reception with Krystal Ramirez, co-sponsored by the Latino Economic Development Center!

Her striking installation piece, “Whose Diversity,” is currently on view in our Outlook Gallery and will be until February 24. Now’s your chance to hear from the artist! Krystal was inspired by “Whose Diversity?”, a group of students at the University of Minnesota who are challenging the ways historically white institutions approach inclusion and diversity—rallying for substantive rather than just cosmetic changes. Because of their 2015 protest, the University hired three new faculty members in the Chicano and Latino Studies department.

Artist talk begins at 7pm. Please RSVP via Eventbrite.

Krystal Ramirez is a Las-Vegas based artist working across media, utilizing photography, found materials, and found text to engage in motifs of race, gender, and physical and emotional labor within the framework of her Latinidad.
