TIME LINES: New Work by MCBA’s Artist Collective

MCBA Main Gallery
May 26–July 30, 2022
Free and open to the public

As a narrative art form, book art is an ideal vehicle for expressing the movement of time. A book artist can control time by deciding when the viewer turns a page, where their eye travels, and how the work unfolds. Time is also apparent in the dedication of book artists to traditional crafts such as hand papermaking and printmaking, and in the nuanced layers visible as a result of these processes. TIME LINES, an exhibition featuring members of our Artist Collective, weaves together personal and generational timelines with natural and societal timelines, including the recent pandemic. The exhibition itself is also an expression of time—a particular timestamp in these artists’ creative lives. Come see and celebrate these local bookbinders, papermakers, paper marblers, and printmakers in our Main Gallery!

Select artworks from the exhibition are available for purchase in our Shop.
