Minnesota Center for Book Arts opening new exhibition focused on fly-fishing and bookbinding

The Bibliophile as Bookbinder:  The Angling Bindings of S.A. Neff, Jr., a new exhibit exploring one man’s passion for the natural world and the world of books, will open with a reception on Friday, February 23 from 6-9pm at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.  The show will continue for two months, and a comprehensive retrospective catalogue and forty-seven minute documentary will accompany the exhibition.

Erica Spitzer Rasmussen Wins the 2018 Minnesota Book Artist Award

The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library announces Erica Spitzer Rasmussen as the winner of the 2018 Minnesota Book Artist Award for her work entitled The Love Affair. Sponsored by Lerner Publishing Group, this annual award is presented as part of the Minnesota Book Awards with the Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA), and recognizes a Minnesota book artist or book artist collaborative group for excellence of a new artistic work. Winners also show demonstrated proficiency and quality in the book arts through three pieces of supporting previous work, as well as an ongoing commitment and significant contributions to Minnesota’s book arts community.

Announcing the departure of long-time Executive Director, Jeff Rathermel

It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that the Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) Board of Directors announces the departure of Jeff Rathermel, long-time Executive Director. Jeff will be assuming the role of Director and Curator of Carleton College’s Perlman Teaching Museum in Northfield, MN on July 1.
