Wonderland Revisited
October 18 – December 15, 2013
Since their initial publication in the nineteen century, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and the sequel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There (1871) have inspired a wide variety of artists. These anthropomorphic classics written by Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) with original illustrations by John Tenniel influenced popular culture, cinema, television, theater, literature and fine arts. The books continue to inspire today, as is evidenced by the contemporary works on view in this exhibition.
